Actually, this study referred to an earlier one that was performed on
younger children and found that walking to school did NOT result in any
overall increase in their activity. Those who walked to school were less
active at other times, which cancelled out their walking. That was a
surprise, and one of the reasons that fancy studies need to be done instead
of relying on our intuition.
